In The Arena And

AROMA OF WORDS

REFLECTIONS SPOKEN TO PRINT

“I love words. While they are technically just air vibrations bouncing off our eardrums, they ignite involuntary responses of questions, empathy, irritation, and care to infinite levels in us all. Words are tangible. They can conjure heat, cold, light, and darkness. Colors often abound, and even smells can waft up with some toppings of fear.

Our lives are a series of walks into various experience rooms, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident. This leaves us with different sensations and questions that we later try to explain to ourselves with an aged, banged-up memory in words either written by us or someone else for us to read. Looking over our shoulders is the definition of experience.

Much of what I talk about is familiar to us all. But here, I am a personal gardener, tending these roses and weeds, using different spades and shovels just as others might too. The foliage is recognizable and universal. These words are my take on common questions and answers on both ends of my life. “
